Obama to car companies: You’re making the wrong cars

without comments

From The Hill:

You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks, Obama said during a town hall forum in Cannon Falls, Minn. There is a place for SUVs and trucks, but as gas prices keep on going up, you have got to understand the market. People are going to try to save money.

What in the world would American businesses do without Obama telling them what their customers want?

“What have you got for us, Geithner?”

The White House Flickr feed delivers once again with a bizarre photo that begs to be Photoshopped:

Commence mockery:

Leave a comment if you’ve got an idea.

See more funny Photoshopped White House Flickr photos here. (That was awfully alliterative.)

An Interview with President Obama’s Speechwriter

without comments

This was a very clever way to make certain that all of our favorite gauzy platitudes from Obama’s campaign and inauguration make it into each of his speeches.

Carneyval of Incompetence

A Wall Street Journal reporter’s Q & A with the White House press secretary (excerpt):

Q I guess what I’m saying is the President has been talking about this, as you said, since he came into office and the results haven’t been what you guys have wanted them to be — or what Americans have wanted —

MR. CARNEY: Which is why we have to keep working.

Q And so — and he is going on this bus tour. Like, what can he — why should people believe him, that he is going to be able to do what he hasn’t been able to do for the last — since he took office?

MR. CARNEY: Well, he will continue to make the case that we need to take the measures necessary as a country, working together with Congress, to — that will spur greater economic growth and create more jobs. And he will make the case that we need to do that in ways that — economic plans we’ve seen from others basically include sustaining or expanding tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, sustaining or expanding subsidies for industries making record profits, slashing spending in programs that assist middle-class Americans, and eliminating or ending programs like Medicare as we know it.

We do not believe that that is a jobs agenda or anything close to it. So what we have to do is reduce our deficit in a balanced way that ensures that we do not actually harm our economic growth prospects or our job creation prospects. And we have to take the measures, the kinds of which I’ve just been discussing, that will further enhance job creation and economic growth.

To paraphrase:

Q Why hasn’t the President been able to improve the economy at all?

CARNEY We’re working on it.

Q Why should people believe anything he says?

CARNEY He’s going to talk more about how we need a good plan to fix the economy, and our plan is……..the other guys’ plan sucks!  They like rich people, and hate the middle class and elderly.

Life in post-racial America
UPDATE [moogrogue]: RACIST!!!

with one comment

UPDATE (whattapundit)

At least electing Obama got rid of all of America’s racial tensions and put the dark days of racism behind us.

Except for marauding gangs of “dozens to hundreds” of black kids randomly beating up white people.

At a Wisconsin state fair

It’s a sensitive subject.  Easier for the media to report on celebrity hairstyles and the royal wedding.  Unfortunately, this type of violent, racially motivated mob action is far from an isolated incident –

Kansas City

Washington, D.C.

Columbia, SC

Charlotte, NC

And of course “Beat Whitey Night” in Des Moines, Iowa

The cycle of senseless, racially motivated violence is perpetuated.  We seem to be descending into a level of racial violence not seen since the 1960s.  With the economy and unemployment stagnant at best, the situation is only to get worse as people become more desperate.

UPDATE [moogrogue]: RACIST!
UPDATE [whattapundit]: YOU, SIR, ARE A RACIST!

Matt Damon!

without comments

Matt Damon was recently asked his opinion on the debt ceiling debate and Obama’s desire to increase taxes. Damon, of course, is a man who is paid to pretend that he is somebody else by reciting words from memory and changing his facial expression. In other words– an authority on political philosophy and the American economy.

It does not matter that he fails to formulate a single coherent sentence or summon a single fact; Matt Damon is armed with a loose amalgamation of progressive talking points and the self-satisfaction of his own moral superiority.

Matt Damon on debt limit: ‘I’m so disgusted,’ ‘it’s criminal’ the wealthy are not paying more from Nicholas Ballasy on Vimeo.

I had a random, vague recollection of Serj Tankian making very silly faces in the music video for “Empty Walls.” (Tankian was the lead vocalist for the hyper-leftist, largely unlistenable nu metal band System of a Down.) I searched for the video on YouTube and was delighted to discover that Serj is hawking my favorite sandwich spread:

Serj wants you to know that he thinks you are a conformist zombie. And also that Kraft Mayo with olive oil now has cracked pepper!

I never made it to Serj’s silly faces because I couldn’t help wondering whether the Marxist revolutionaries of Rage Against The Machine had anything else to sell me…

Turns out they had at least 4 things to sell me.

"Never Neutral"? I guess that kind of works...
